Two in custody after a man was found dead in Farmer City
Farmer City - Two carnival workers have been accused of murdering a Farmer City man, whose body was found on Saturday morning.
Police said, James and Alexander Jacquart, both employees of the traveling carnival company Big H Amusements of Fairbury, have been taken into custody for the murder. The men are charged with five counts of first degree murder and one count of armed robbery.
DeWitt County Sheriff Jered Shofner identified the man as Blayne J. Benefield, 21, of rural Farmer City. A pedestrian found his body Saturday morning. The town of about 2,000 was hosting its Heritage Days festival. County officers and Illinois State Police worked at the crime scene while the festival went on nearby.
The Jacquart brothers are being held at the DeWitt County Jail on a $1 million bond each.
