Champaign - Seven time Olympic medalist Shannon Miller visited Franklin Middle School Tuesday afternoon to check out the new fitness technology.
The new technology was created by Polar Go-Fit. Polar developed a new heart rate module that is being tested at the elementary schools. It will allow PE students to observe their fitness levels during class.
Olympic gymnast, Shannon Miller is excited to see how the new technology will help the kids "for me it's just about getting kids active, showing them that fitness can be fun. You know, it doesn't have to be grueling minutes or hours on the treadmill."
Miller is a long time advocate of childhood health, aiming to combat obesity and encourage kids to get fit.
