Police thank public for helping solving vending machine thefts
Christian County - Police have identifying a male and female responsible for several burglaries to vending machines in Stonington and Pana over the past year.
Stonington Police Department, Christian County Sheriff's Office, Pana Police Department, along with the Illinois State Police arrested Stephen O'Conner, 55, and Aimie Onkle, 31. They were arrested on Friday after witnesses saw the two breaking into several soda machines in Clay County.
It is believed the two subjects are related and have been traveling around central and southern Illinois for several months targeting small town vending machines. Both subjects have extensive criminal histories for burglaries to vending machines, possession of burglary tools and weapons offenses dating back to the 1990's.
Law enforcement officials would like to thank the public for all of their assistance in this matter.
