Police searching for man possibly involved in sexual assaults

Danville - Police are searching for a man they think was involved in two sexual assaults on the same day this week.

Our partners at the Champaign News Gazette reported two women told police they were attacked about 15 minutes apart in the Beechwood Drive area, in Danville on Tuesday.

A 22 year old woman says she was walking to a bus stop around 5:45 a.m., when a man jumped from a fenced area, pointed a gun at her, pushed her into a wooded area and assaulted her. A 26 year old woman told police she had been walking in the 1600 block of Beechwood around 5:30 a.m., when a man tried to sexually assault her. Both victims describe the suspect as a man in his early 20's, about 6 feet tall, wearing shorts and a tank top style shirt.

The incidents are under investigation and no arrests have been made at this time.
