Three teens in stable condition after their car hit a utility pole

Springfield - Three teenagers are in stable condition after an alleged drunk driving crash Monday night.

 

The crash happened on Illinois 97, at Moore Road in Sangamon County. Police say the car was traveling southbound on Moore Road, when the 16 year old driver was unable to stop and struck a utility pole.

 

The driver and a 15 year old boy were taken to St. John's Hospital with minor injuries. A 15 year old girl was also taken to St. John's with serious, possibly life threatening injuries. All three are now in stable condition.

 

The 16 year old driver was charged with DUI, possession and consumption of alcohol, drug paraphernalia and other charges. The Illinois State Police continue to investigate.
