Decatur - It won't be long until penguins find a new home in Central Illinois.
The much-anticipated penguin exhibit at Decatur's Scovill Zoo is nearly complete. The zoo hopes to have the penguins by the Boo at the Zoo event, come October 18th.
The $1.4 million exhibit has been under construction since December.
It's the soon-to-be home of the endangered species Humboldt penguins.
There will be a pool, viewing deck and a pop-up dome to give visitors an up-close look.
Assistant Zoo Director, Ken Frye, said the exhibit should be complete later this summer.
"They're still shooting for it all to be wrapped up come end of August," said Frye.
The Boo at the Zoo theme this year is also about the penguins, the theme is Boo at the Zoo and Penguins too.
