Bond Set at $10 Million for Murder Suspect

URBANA-  Bond has been set at $10 million dollars for Yongfei Ci, the man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend.

Police continue to investigate after U of I student Menchen Huang, 25, was found killed in her apartment Friday morning.

Police arrived to the complex on N. Lincoln Ave. at 10:59 a.m., where they found a Huang dead in the apartment.

Police say CI, also a U of I student, was located blocks from the scene at 1212 W. Anthony in Champaign, using cell phone technology.

Police say the Huang's roommate was inside at the time of the crime, detained in a bathroom unharmed. She reportedly escaped and screamed for help, prompting the 911 call.

Prosecutors said Saturday that Ci has been studying in Rhode Island but returned to Urbana because he thought Huang was cheating on him.

Police say Yongfei Ci was taken into custody without incident. He is now being held on a preliminary charge of murder.

Police have not yet released the cause of death. An autopsy on the victim is pending and the investigation is ongoing.
