Decatur - The city of Decatur has
implemented a boil order for areas of southern Decatur
and Mt. Zion until further notice.
The area impacted by the boil
order is bound by the Sangamon River and Lake Decatur to the north, County
Highway 7 ( Baltimore Road) to the east, County Highway 30 (Elwin Road)
including the Shepherds Hill subdivision south
of County Highway 30 to the south and Wesley Road to the west. All Village of
Mt. Zion water customers, no matter where they are located, are also under the

water from the tap without boiling it for three to five minutes first and
letting it cool before consuming. Boiled or bottled water should be used for
drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation
until further notice.
The boil order is being issued as a precaution due
to a 16" water main break located in the Sangamon
River bed downstream of the Lake Decatur
dam that caused water pressure to fall below required minimum levels for a
short period of time.
Customers impacted by the
break are also supplied by other water mains but their water pressure will
remain below normal until the broken water main is repaired. They are also
urged to conserve water use to a minimum until normal water pressure is
