Blessing of the animals event announced in Decatur


DECATUR - The Decatur & Macon County Animal Shelter Foundation and the Decatur Park District

is inviting everyone to attend the "BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS" in celebration of the Feast of St. Francis, Patron Saint of Animals Friday, October 4th, at 5:30pm (on the actual Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi) at the Healing Garden outside of St. Mary's Cancer Care Center.

Refreshments for people and Millie & Bo's Barkery dog treats will be served and there will be a second Blessing Sunday, October 6th, at 2:00pm at Fairview Park Fido Fields Dog Park, in the west end of Fairview Park.

All dogs and owners are invited. Adoptable shelter dogs will also be there. As will more dog treats from Millie & Bo's Barkery. If possible, please bring a donation of any bagged or canned dog or cat food which will be donated to the Catholic Charities food bank. Father Nick, St. Mary's chaplain will individually bless each pet.

Dogs should be on leashes.
