Fire displaces three families in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN - The American Red Cross Chapter in Champaign provided emergency assistance Thursday night after an apartment building fire displaced three families.

The fire took place around 8:00 p.m. in the 2400 block of North Neil Street in Champaign. The American Red Cross provided food, clothing and shelter to assist the families displaced by the fire. 

The community can help those affected by future disasters by volunteering with the American Red Cross and/or making a contribution to American Red Cross Local Disaster Relief.

Contributions can be made by visiting www.redcross.org/midillinois or calling (217) 351-5861. On those rare occasions when donations exceed Red Cross expenses for a specific disaster, contributions are used to prepare for and serve victims of other disasters.
