DECATUR- Even after her husband's death a decade ago, Betty Gaumer continued to actively lead the Operation Enduring Support Group. Operation Enduring Support has sent thousands of care packages to the men and women serving our country overseas. Now, it's time for Gaumer to close this chapter in her life and start a new one closer to her sons in Kansas. Gaumer is leaving her community to live closer to family. Although she will be miles from Decatur, Gaumer expects O.E.S to continue just like she's still here. Gaumer says she will miss the people the most, and if it was not for the Decatur and surrounding communities, O.E.S would not have been able to serve our military personnel.
If you would like to send care packages to our troops, O.E.S is accepting Christmas gift donations until November sixteenth. You can mail or drop them off at Grace United Methodist Church. Their address is 901 N. Main Street Decatur, Illinois, 62521.
