Country Club Road open after 15 months of construction
Decatur - A nearly $3,000,000 project, near Scovill Zoo is now complete.
Country Club Road, also known as County Highway 26, was resurfaced over the past 15 months. The entrances to the zoo and nearby children's museum were improved. Plus a new crosswalk for the students of Muffley School has been added.
Bruce Bird of the County Highway Department said this project has been a long time coming, "we first started looking at this project about ten years ago. A long term look. The main reason, the typical engineering reason. Poor drainage, high maintenance issues and safety issues along here. There's been several accidents along here as many people know."
Construction work on Country Club Road started in June of 2012. The work was completed at the end of September.
