One woman dead after being hit by pickup truck

Urbana - One of the two women pedestrians who was hit by a pickup truck on the University of Illinois Campus on Wednesday died.

 

The crash happened around 10 am Wednesday morning. Police say Willie Craft, 58, was driving the full size pickup truck. Craft was driving southbound he left the roadway several times driving across a sidewalk, striking street signs and an occupied vehicle in traffic.  when he reached the 1100 block of Lincoln Avenue he jumped a curb, striking the women.

 


The second woman's injuries were not life-threatening. She is still being treated at Carle Foundation Hospital.

 


Lincoln Avenue remained closed from Nevada to Pennsylvania Avenue until shortly after 2:30p.m., while police were investigating.
