Sangamon County - The Sangamon County Arson Investigations Team welcomed a new member to their team.
Jules is the newest four legged member to the Arson Investigators Team. Jules is certified to sniff out accelerant's used to start fires. Deputy Director, State Fire Marshal, Les Albert said her help is needed with the increase of fires in central Illinois.
"They're one of the best sniffers of any animal or any K-9 unit. They can smell accelerant's or anything 200 times better than we can. So they can go through a building much quicker pace, tell us where we're going to collect evidence where we don't need to collect evidence and give us an idea of what really happened at this scene."
Jules is trained to go through home fires, when she detects anything suspicious she simply sits until she gets a treat.
