Danville - Police are now investigating the weekend death of a man as a homicide.
Officers were called to the 300 block of Plum Street, Saturday evening around 6. They found a 22-year-old Danville man laying on the ground bleeding. He died just before midnight Sunday night.
According to Director of Public Safety Larry Thomason witnesses told police that the victim was confronted on the street by several male black individuals and at least one began beating on the victim. The suspects left the area in a vehicle.
Police detectives have begun the process of interviewing witnesses to the incident and are asking anyone with information to contact the Danville Police Detective Section or Crimestoppers at 446-TIPS.
The name of the victim is not being released at this time pending notification of family members.
