Helping Hands denied shelter move

Springfield - The Helping Hands Homeless Shelter in Springfield, will not be able to move into a new location.

An alderman rejected a zoning change. The shelter hoped to move to North Fourth Street, which would give them more space to help the city's homeless.

However, the alderman gave them an alternative of a possible 10 year lease, that would let them remain at the city's emergency overflow shelter on East Madison.
