Police investigating after finding skeletal remains in a home


Champaign - The Champaign Police department is investigation a death.

Police were called to the 400 block of West Eureka on Wednesday. When they arrived they found skeletal remains for a person who lived in the home. A family member reported the death, indicating the skeleton was his brother, and he was developmentally disabled. The family member was the care-taker for the past 10 years.

The Champaign County Coroner is releasing preliminary information. The coroner said, The person appears to have been dead for a considerable length of time, possibly since last August, and is believed to be Donald Allen, 47.

Due to the discomposure of the body a cause of death could not be determined. However, no evidence of trauma was detected. His death is believed to be from natural causes at this time.  

Police do not know why there was a delay in reporting the death.
