Murder charges dropped against Demariel Cunningham
Decatur - Murder charges have been dropped against a Decatur man.
Demariel Cunningham, 33, was charged for the shooting of 19 year-old Marvin Dickerson following an argument that turned violent at the corner of Union and Saywer on August 23, 2011. Dickerson later died at the hospital.
The Macon County State's Attorney says, the case against Cunningham depended on eye witness testimony from Marvin Perry, who was murdered in August of this year.
Police say that the September 3, 2011 murder of 17 year-old Mishyra Wheeler may have been retaliation for Dickerson's murder. However, the states attorney said the murder of Marvin Perry and Marvin Dickerson are not related.
