Police around the state want you to remember a law that makes it illegal for child sex offenders to take part in Halloween activities.
The law means child sex offenders can't distribute candy or other items on Thursday. It's the same law that bans child sex offenders from working as Santa Claus or the Easter bunny during the Christmas and Easter seasons.
That law was proposed by Forsyth State Rep. Bill Mitchell nearly 10 years ago, after he saw a story here on WAND News. At that time, there was no rule about sex offenders participating in Halloween activities.
Police say they'll keep a watchful eye on registered offenders through Halloween night.
