Charleston Police are investigating multiple reports of counterfeit bills being passed at multiple businesses.
The bills are mainly 10's and 20's. Police say you can tell if a 10 is counterfeit by the lady liberty torch. On the 20 you can check the eagle and the number 20 have reflective characteristics.
The Charleston Police department is encouraging all businesses and their employees to pay close attention to cash payments and to mark any and all bills that come in through patrons, especially all 10's and 20's to help ensure they are not counterfeit. Should you encounter a counterfeit bill please keep it and contact the Charleston Police. Any descriptive information on the individual using the bill would be helpful.
