Man pleads guilty to the death of a toddler

Springfield - One man will spend 20-years in prison for killing a toddler.

Mason Weems pleaded guilty to the 2008 death of his girlfriend's son, Anakin Credit. A grand jury in Springfield indicted Weems in 2011, for the child's death that was originally not ruled a homicide.  At the time of the child's death an autopsy showed that the 2-year-old died of a rare undiagnosed cancer.

However, two other pathologists determined he died from abuse, after his parents fought to get his body exhumed.

Weems plead guilty to aggravated battery, and a first degree murder charge was dropped.
