Sheriff's department participating in No Shave November
Decatur - The Macon County Sheriff's Department is raising money and putting down the razor for a good cause.
The department is raising money for the American Cancer Society. About 50 employees are taking part in No Shave November. Each employee will donate a dollar a day to go toward the American Cancer Society.
Two employees of the sheriff's department recently died from long battles with cancer. Those taking part will be growing out their facial hair for a good cause.
Macon County Sheriff Tom Schneider said the task won't be easy "I can tell you right now, it's not easy. It itches a lot. I'm fearful because I have some speaking engagements coming up this month. Hopefully they will forgive me for my motley look whenever the time comes around, but I know it's for the better part of helping out others."
The State's Attorney will also take part in No Shave November. They expect to raise 15-hundred dollars for the American Cancer Society research efforts.
