Springfield - People passionate about a fair tax in Illinois took to the Capitol's rotunda Monday.
Members of A Better Illinois called on lawmakers to vote on a bill.
If passed, supporters said it would lead to fairer taxes for all economic backgrounds in the state.
"Over 77 percent of residents in our state believe and support in the value of a fair tax. Where lower rates apply to lower incomes, and higher rates apply to higher incomes. We believe in a fair tax system that will help eleviate the current budget crisis that will help grow our economy for the long-term," said campaign manager Kristen Crowell.
Supporters said a fairer tax system will help protect services like education, public safety, and health care.
