GED test to be replaced with tougher model

By December 31st, about 3 million adults who have started but not passed the GED could have to start all over.

The high school equivalency test is being replaced by a newer tougher model in January, and credits toward the old test are being thrown out.

Only about 12 percent of test takers go on to graduate from higher education. To better prepare them for the challenge the math assessment will now add more advance algebra. The reading and writing requirements will be more complex, and the entire test will be given online.
