Springfield -- Ceremonies and memorials are scheduled across Illinois to mark Veterans' Day.
In Chicago four-star Gen. Robert Cone will speak at the city's Veterans' Day ceremony. Cone is the commander over the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command. The event is scheduled for Monday morning at Soldier Field.
Other cities, like Aurora, plan Veterans' Day parades. In Springfield the parade will go to the Illinois Capitol and there will be a ceremony afterward in the rotunda.
And lawmakers will be making appearances too. U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk will be in the Chicago suburb of Buffalo Grove. He plans to give World War II veteran George Boesen of Arlington Heights the medals he earned for his service but never received.
Evangelist Franklin Graham prayed on a sidewalk outside the Pentagon Thursday after his invitation to a prayer service inside was withdrawn because of comments that insulted people of other religions. More>>
