High School Basketball Team Gives Away 100 Turkeys
The Boys Varsity Basketball Team of Champaign Central High School hosted their annual Thanksgiving charity event Saturday. The team gave away more than 100 turkeys to families in need. Senior, Kameron Rowan, says this is their way of thanking the community for showing support at their games.
"I mean, some parents, some people on the streets just come and watch us just because they love basketball so we want to give back to them to show that we care, you know, giving turkeys and saying thanks."
In the past four years they have given away more than 600 turkeys. To raise the money for turkeys, the team collects donations from local business and community residents.
