Law enforcement surpasses goal for No Shave November
Decatur - Wednesday morning a group of local law enforcement gathered for a final picture for No Shave November.
The Macon County Sheriff's Office, State's Attorney, Public Defender's Offices, plus community members grew beards for a good cause. The group surpassed their goal, raising over $2,500 for the American Cancer Society.
Correction Officer Josh Page, brought the idea to Sheriff Tom Schneider, and they are both pleased with how successful it turned out. "He knows where my heart is when it comes to helping people. He's in the same place that I am and when he brought that up it's like let's do it and 60 some officers from our own department! And that's just unbelievable, said Schneider.
Cash donations are also being given to the family of a local child with cancer, to help with their medical costs.
