Decatur- It's that time of the year. Red kettles and donation jars seem to be everywhere. How do you know the money you donate goes to people who need it?
"The more we spread that word and what it means to give to the United Way locally people start believing in us and really what we do and they can start to see the results," said Debbie Bogle the Executive Director at Decatur's United Way.
The United Way collects donations for basic services, education, health, self-sufficiency and safety. Bogle says the money donated goes to the Decatur community. Captain Wesley Dalberg at The Salvation Army said, if you support his organization your gift helps people locally as well.
"During the holiday season we help families with food and toys for their children," said Dalberg.
