Mother of Willow Long arrested

Effingham - The Effingham County State's Attorney's office has filed charges against the mother of Willow Long.

Ciara DeRyke, 26, was taken into custody for obstructing an officer. Ciara told officers back in September, that she saw her daughter on morning of September 8th, even though Willow had reportedly died the night before.

The State's Attorney said "we believe that, in making such statement, Ms. DeRyke was knowingly furnishing false information." No motive has been determined, but cautioned against one theory: "The State's Attorney office and State Police investigators believe that Ciara DeRyke did not participate in the murder of her child and did not know that her child had been murdered, at the time of her statement to the officers."

Ciara is being held at the Effingham County Jail on a $75,000 bond. Her arraignment is set for Tuesday, December 10th, at 11 am.

Willow Long went missing Sunday September 8th from her home in Watson. Hundreds of volunteers and police searched for Willow.

Around 7:30 p.m. Monday September 9th four volunteers found a small child in an area south of the village of Watson in Effingham County. An autopsy confirmed the identify of the body to be Willow Long.

Justin DeRyke, Willow Long's uncle,  is currently in custody for her murder.
