Police arrests several suspects involved with coin operated machine thefts
Springfield - Police issued a search warrant to arrest several suspects after reports of thefts to coin operated poker machines.
Police arrested Troy Ried, Terry Ried and Julie Downs on December 5th. Troy Reid was arrested on several traffic warrants, Julie Downs was arrested on drug charges and, Terry Reid was arrested for the poker machine thefts.
On December 9th police arrested two more suspects, Christopher Woods and Shawna Corwin. Employees at the Road Ranger gas station at 500 Toronto Road, recognized them from previous thefts and notified police. The suspects left prior to police arriving in a 1997 Silver Chevy Malibu. Chatham police stopped the vehicle in the 2800blk of E. Walnut in Chatham both suspects attempted to flee on foot Woods was apprehended not far from the vehicle.
An officer and his K-9 were able to track Corwin to a deer stand in the Wild Life Sanctuary. Woods and Corwin were both arrested in connection with the poker machine thefts. Woods was also wanted on an IDOC Warrant for Parole Violation.
Detectives executed a search warrant on Woods' vehicle this morning and recovered additional evidence from the coin operated machine thefts. Also located were items used to manufacture methamphetamine.
Woods is also going to be charged with Methamphetamine manufacturing material.
