Vehicle almost hits a police officer, driver arrested
Decatur - A man is arrested after almost hitting a police office with a car.
Jamel Jelks, 20, was taken into custody, Wednesday night. According to a sworn statement, a Decatur Police officer approached the car Jelks was driving. He then sped off, almost hitting the officer. After fishtailing on the snow covered roads Jelks crashed into a utility pole.
Police searched the area and the vehicle Jelks was driving, K-9 units found a loaded gun and four grams of cannabis.
Jelks is being held on a $500,000 bond. He is due in court on January 24th for his arraignment.
