CERRO GORDO-A Piatt County family is without a home after a car crashed into it earlier this week. There's extensive damage to the front of the home. It's since been boarded up with support beams put in place.
Early Monday morning, a woman was driving on Carter in Cerro Gordo when she fell asleep at the wheel, hit the guardrail and crashed into the front of the home.
Mom Teayr Crabtree was sleeping in her bed at the time. Her young daughter was having a sleep over party, many of the children asleep in the front room.
Crabtree jumped out of bed and out the window, because she had no other way to get out of the room, to make sure everyone was safe because she feared for the worst.
"I thought all my kids were dead because I yelled before I jumped out is everybody ok, and nobody would answer me. So I thought all my kids were dead and they called 9-11 and I came back and everybody was ok but, it was really scar," Crabtree says.
The driver has been ticketed with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Piatt County deputies say they did not detect the odor of alcohol. The driver sustained injuries, but authorities say they aren't life threatening.
If you'd like to help out the family, there's an account set up at CEFCU for the Crabtree/Neff family.
