County board discussing a pay increase for the county clerk

Decatur - The Macon County Board will meet to discuss a change in pay for a longtime county clerk.

The board hopes to raise Steve Beans salary by a 7-percent increase in each of the next two years. Then he would get 3-percent more for the two years after that totaling a 20-percent raise.

If approved, the raise will go into effect after the November election, where Bean is the only candidate running for the clerk spot.
