On January 1st.. millions of Americans woke up with new health insurance. However, people are still uninsured. So the organization "Get Covered America" wants no one in Central Illinois to go without. In Springfield, Sunday, they offered personal assistance to anyone who was struggling to sign up. The enrollment workshop took place at the Urban League Center. Each attendee was paired with a navigator to lead them through the healthcare application process. According to Carol Jackson, a woman who had trouble signing up, said it was all the help she needed.
"I came in and they called me back there. And we talked to a man named Eugene. And I'm telling you what.. he did all he could for us. He looked up plan after plan. We told him all our information. We ended up getting hooked up today."
The next event will take place on January 26th. For more details, you can go to the "Get Covered America" web site. The deadline to sign-up for insurance is March 31st.. to avoid paying a penalty.
