Ministry washing loads of hope

Decatur - A church ministry is helping men and women meet a basic need.

The organization called Random Acts of Laundry will show up at Laundromats unannounced and pay the total cost it takes to wash your clothes.

"We have had people moved to tears, they are so moved.  Because they are in a financial strait for whatever reason.. a loss of a job or recent illness.  And they were making a choice as to whether to do laundry or buy additional groceries.  So we've been able to pay for the laundry, and they've been able to pay for the extra groceries," said Susan Moorehead the Coordinator for Random Acts of Laundry.

The organization has been doing this for more than a year and a half, and have paid for more than 300 loads of laundry. The ministry was formed by a Sunday school class at First United Methodist Church in Decatur.
