For the 6th time in the last 7 years the cost of a first class stamp went up. Stamps will now cost 49-cents instead of the current price of 46-cents. The price increase in the largest single hike in more than a decade.
Regulators approved the price hike in December, and the new price went into effect on Sunday.
The postal service says the higher cost will help recoup millions of dollars in losses.
