Maroa - A Macon County farmer is helping make local education grow.

Patricia McQueen, winner of the 'America's Farmer Grow Communities' will donate her $2,500 prize to the Maroa Forsyth school district. The donation will help pay for state-of-the-art labs for agricultural, environmental, and scientific education.

A check was presented at Maroa Middle School, Friday morning.

America's Farmers Grow Communities works directly with farmers to support nonprofit organizations doing important work in rural communities. The program encourages farmers to enter to win $2,500, which is then directed to the farmer's nonprofit of choice.
