7 of 24 stolen guns have been picked up by police


Champaign - A robbery at a Champaign Rural King left 24 guns unaccounted for, now some of those guns have resurfaced.

In August and September, 24 handguns and a riffle were stolen, and police have been keeping a running tally of the guns that have reappeared. A total of 7 guns have been picked up, four of those guns were in Urbana and three in Champaign.

Many of the guns are being sold for a couple hundred dollars The 24 guns were valued at over $11,000. The rifle was just under $400.

Rural King says they are taking steps to improve the security of the weapons in their stores.
