Crash on I-57 sends two people to the hospital

Posted:

Champaign - Three people were involved in a crash Tuesday morning, after roads were ice covered in some areas, following Monday's storm.

A 2000 Doge Pickup truck driven by 63-year-old Elmer Ray Nichols ran off the road into a median, on I-57 south bound, near mile marker 255 1/2.  Thomas Badgley,34, pulled over to check on the condition of the Nichols, when Brian Zimmerman,27, lost control of his vehicle and slid off the road onto the shoulder.

Zimmerman's vehicle hit Badgley and Nichols, sending them both to the hospital. No word on their conditions. Zimmerman was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions.
