Economy improving but more improvement needed

CHICAGO -- While there are signs the economy is improving in Illinois, there is still work to be done.

Illinois' unemployment rate was 8.6 percent in December. The Illinois Department of Employment Security says employers in the state advertised more than 208,400 jobs online in January. The figure is down from 215,000 in December; however, department Director Jay Rowell called the number evidence good paying jobs are abundant in Illinois.

Decatur's unemployment rate in December was 12.9 percent.
