Decatur - A Decatur man is arrested for beating two children under the age of 13.
Corey Ray, 34, is charged with aggravated battery of a child and domestic battery. Police say, they responded to a call for an injured child, when they arrived a child had swelling around his right eye. The child told police Ray (the boyfriend of the child's mother) shoved his head into a wall.
Ray told the mother he was putting the child into a corner and he turned his head, causing him to strike the wood trim with his eye.
The mothers sister and five other children live in the home, along with Ray. The sister told police one of her children was also injured by Ray. She located a golf ball sized abrasion to the child's right side/hip area, from being dragged down the stairs.
An interview with two of the children revealed that Ray was upset, because the child was not getting dressed for school one morning, he dragged the child down the stairs causing the injury.
Ray admitted that he caused injury to the one child's eye. He also admitted he struggled with the other on the stairs one day, trying to get the child downstairs and dressed. Ray said he never drug the child and was unaware of any injuries.
Ray is currently being held in the Macon County Jail on a $45,000 bond. A check of his records showed he has a prior conviction for domestic battery and a prior conviction for violation of an order of protection.
