State Police continue to investigate a police and suspect struggle over a gun
Springfield - A police officer is expected to be ok, after a scuffle with a suspect, leaving him with head and facial injuries.
However, Springfield Police say the suspect is recovering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
Around 1:30 p.m. on Friday police responded to a 911 hang up call, when police arrived a male subject was armed.
Police and suspect struggled over the gun, both subjects ended up on the ground. During the altercation the officer suffered severe head and facial injuries resulting in the officer shooting the subject in the leg.
The Illinois State Police continue to investigate the incident.
