Man arrested, after he is shot by a police officer Friday
Springfield - Police have charged a man for a home invasion and sexual assault, which lead to a scuffle with a police officer.
Police arrested 37-year-old Antonio Florence of Springfield. He is being held on a $500,000 bond.
On Feb. 21 around 1:30 p.m. police responded to a 911 hang up call, when police arrived a male subject was armed.
Police and the suspect struggled over the gun, both subjects ended up on the ground. During the altercation the officer suffered severe head and facial injuries resulting in the officer shooting the subject in the upper leg.
Police say, Florence entered the home in the 1800 block of Gregory Court and sexually assaulted the woman inside the home. The woman tired to call 911 but couldn't reach a dispatcher, resulting in the 911 hang up call.
The case remains under investigation and additional charges could be filed. Florence is expected in court on March 6th for a preliminary hearing.
