City Council to discuss raising lake fees

Posted:

Decatur - The Decatur City Council will meet Monday night to discuss raising lake fees.

Council members will discuss a fee increase of 5-percent each year for the next three years for licensing boats, boat docks and hunting blinds on Lake Decatur. After the third year the fees will be adjusted by 2.5% or by the annual percentage change of the U.S. Department of Labor Midwest Urban Consumer Price Index, whichever is greater.

The fees were most recently adjusted in 1998 and 2012. The city says the increase is needed to cover more administrative costs for the lake. Currently license fees only cover about 53-percent of the costs.
