Springfield - Today, the Sangamon County Sheriff's Office celebrated the one year return of the Drug Interdiction and Response Team.
The sheriff's office brought the team back after an increase in crime rates in unincorporated Sangamon County. They have seized money, cocaine, meth, heroin, and several fire arms.
According to a release the money seized helps fund the DIRT and team and their ability to bring in criminals. DIRT's effectiveness has helped make the quality of life in neighborhoods better, it has made them safer.
