District 186 dealing with 5-million in cuts

Posted:

Springfield - District 186 is discussing more than 5-million dollars in cuts for the district.

Board members debated over cutting elementary school librarians to reduce spending on students with special needs.

"Invest in 186," is a group pushing for a property tax increase. They say, the tax would go directly to supporting education.

The group says, "additional funds would prove a game changer for a district whose finances have forced us into a conversation about doing the least harm rather than the most good."
