Pre-trial continues for man arrested, after a scuffle with a police officer
Springfield - A pre-trial will continue next Thursday, for a man accused of sexual assault and injuring an officer.
Antonio Florence, 37, was in court today. He is facing charges of home invasion, sexual assault, and aggravated battery.
On Feb. 21 around 1:30 p.m. police responded to a 911 hang up call, when police arrived a male subject was armed.
Police and the suspect struggled over the gun, both subjects ended up on the ground. During the altercation the officer suffered severe head and facial injuries resulting in the officer shooting the subject in the upper leg.
Police say, Florence entered the home in the 1800 block of Gregory Court and sexually assaulted the woman inside the home. The woman tired to call 911 but couldn't reach a dispatcher, resulting in the 911 hang up call.
