Decatur - Plans are moving forward to bring wind turbines to northern Macon County.
On Thursday evening, a county subcommittee voted to unanimously approve an updated wind energy conversion system ordinance. It sets the guidelines to follow for the construction of more than 100 planned wind turbines.
The wind farm would be on Glasglow Road, just off Route 51, near Maroa. The wind farm is expected to create 100 temporary construction jobs and 20 permanent jobs.
