The Warm Weather is Already Boosting Local Economies!

Posted:

From Springfield to Decatur, St. Patrick's Day Parades erupted all over Central Illinois today. While attendees packed the streets business owners prepared for another day of high traffic in their stores. Beautiful weather has been a trend this week and it's already boosting local economies. Some of Decatur's local businesses say their sales have more than doubled.

"I'd say triple or even quadrupled this week, said Julie Shafer, vice president of Flora Gem in Decatur. "With the nicer weather and the warmer weather people are out and about and they're starting to think about coming downtown and looking and purchasing and I think they're tired of being cooped up for the winter."

Business owners say they hope temperatures stay high so their sales will too.
