Decatur - A Chicago man has been found guilty, for the 2011 murder of a 17-year-old girl.
The jury returned to the court room with their verdict for 30-year-old Dennis Davis, this morning at 11:30. Davis was found guilty of First Degree Murder and Attempted First Degree Murder.
On September 3rd, 2011 police found 17-year-old Mishyra Wheeler shot, in the 1500 block of North Church Street. Police say Davis was one of several shooters who open fire that day, in relation to a previous shooting.
Wheeler was gunned down while sitting on a porch, she was pronounced dead at Decatur Memorial Hospital. She died from massive damage she sustained to her heart and lungs after being shot in the back. Four other victims were transported to the hospital that evening with non-life threatening injuries.
Wheeler was not the intended target.
Davis is expected back in court on May 20th, for his sentencing.
